Color Coach Inspiration

I got my SU! Color Coach today. I bought one because I started to doubt my ability to "get it right" I created a few cards that were just off when it came to color.

Well, I have to hand it to SU! As I turned the dial, the color combinations made sense. One of them was for Apricot Appeal. This may be the first time I have ever used this color card stock. As I am not usually into pastels, it would not be one that I would reach for. However. I do like to combination with Certainly Celery and Lavender Lace. The Cameo Coral (also a color that I don't think I would ever pick independent of the CC, is a nice punch of color when paired with the others.

The other coordinating color that was listed was Bashful Blue. Unfortunately, I didn't have any BB ribbon. I grabbed the only ribbon that I had that was close. Bashful Blue ribbon would look much softer but it is not bad.

Hmmm...thinking of a combo using Old Olive next. I wonder what I will come up with?
Enjoy your day!

Chalkboard Retirement Cards

Whew! Thirty retirement cards. I know my husband loves me for this :)

My husband retired last month and he received wonderful, thoughtful gifts from his friends and co-workers. I wanted to show them that we truly appreciated their generosity.

The chalkboard technique is super fun. It is really easy too. This is a great technique for making cards for anyone in the education field. Enjoy!

Oh my goodness...It feels great to make cards again!

What a busy summer! I started teaching again and we moved to Whitewater WI. I have been so busy getting my classes up and running 1st semester that I haven't made any cards except for my monthly Stampin Up! card club. Thank God for that Club. Otherwise, I wouldn't have had any creative fun.

Well, I didn't have time to make my Christmas cards but I did have time to make thank you notes for my husband to give out to co-workers who gave him gifts. It felt so great to get back to "normal".

I got the inspiration for these cards from the Inspiration Challenge on Split Coast Stampers that had us check out the website Poshtots (IC212) Super cute stuff but I will need a second job to afford any of it. Good to see you again and I look forward to making regular posts again.

Are You Ready For The Summer? Are You Ready For The Good Times? -Meatballs, 1979

Do you remember that movie? When I saw the Lands End beach totes and towels that were the inspiration for today's CAS (Clean & Simple) challenge on Split Coast Stampers, this song came to mind.

I made two cards. I just couldn't pick! The towels at the Lands End website are just too cool. Are you ready for the summer? Hey MICKEY!

365 Cards Challenge Day 95

Boy, today's challenge at 365 Cards was really tough. The challenge was to use pink, orange and blue as your primary colors in your card for today. I must tell you that these three colors are NOT my favorite. I had to really think about it. Every shade of these colors either looked dirty or reminded me of a bad 70's pillow design. After struggling for a bit, I decided to go with Stampin Up! In Color inks of Tangerine Tango, Pink Pirouette, Pacific Point and Baja Breeze. I resorted back to my old standby technique of using a baby wipe to blend the colors for the butterflies. Well, not my favorite card....but I met the challenge!

I used the following materials to make this card:

SU Tangerine Tango cardstock
SU Baja Breeze cardstock
SU Pink Pirouette cardstock
SU Tangerine Tango inker
SU Baja Breeze inker
SU Pink Pirouette inker
SU Pacific Point inker
Baby wipe
SU Bold Butterfly stamp set

365 Cards Challenge Day 94

Yesterday the 365 Cards Day 94 challenge was to use this ad as inspiration to create a card. I had forgotten how elegant lime green, black and white look together. This challenge was so much fun because I rarely use black and white in my cards. Which is funny because most of my wardrobe is brown or black. I think that my cards are so colorful because I do not usually wear bold colorful clothing.

Well, I absolutely love this color combination. What a great ad to enter into my idea journal. Tammy from 365 Cards....You rock!

I used the following materials to make my card:

SU Kiwi Kiss paper and ink
SU Whisper White paper
Making Memories striped paper from the Black Tie collection
Sugar n' Spice black/white floral ribbon purchased at Michaels
SU Basic Black ink
SU Heartfelt Thanks stamp set
SU Simply Said stamp set
SU Gently Falling stamp set
Rhinestone

No challenges today...

Hi all, Just going through some of my card collection and picked out a mini-card set that I made with some pretty paper that I bought about a month ago. I need to hit the techniques pages at SCS to learn how to make a cute box for them and they will make a nice gift.

I found the cute shimmery flower paper at The Scrapbooking Store and fell in love with it. I didn't want to overdo it so I just added some paper piercing and a simple sentiment.

Thanks for looking!
